Mindfulness Practices: Take 5ive
Mindfulness is a research-based tool that starts with purposefully bringing focus to thoughts, emotions, physical feelings, and environment, with kindness and without judgment. Mindfulness exercises can be integrated into the school day to increase personal wellness and positive feelings, reduce reactivity and negativity, and improve overall classroom culture. Learning to pause during the day allows for automatic, conditioned patterns to be broken, setting the stage for increased self-awareness, a requirement for self-regulation and impulse control.
Vaping/e-cigarette usage has grown into an extensive problem for Wisconsin teens and youth. These resources were developed by Children’s Wisconsin to help inform educators about vaping.
The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model is an ecological approach that is directed toward the entire school while drawing resources from the larger community. The WSCC model focuses on the health and wellbeing of students and staff, as well as a safe school environment, through a collaborative approach to learning and health.
