Healthy Minds Kindergarten now available!
December 29, 2021
Healthy Minds Kindergarten, an age-appropriate introductory e-learning course focusing on mental and emotional health, is now available for teachers and counselors to use with kindergarten students. Healthy Minds Kindergarten is a fun and interactive course that provides students with valuable information and the tools needed to stay mentally and emotionally healthy, especially as we continue to navigate these difficult times.
At Children’s Wisconsin, we believe caring for a child's mental and behavioral health is just as important as caring for their physical health. That’s why we created Healthy Minds Kindergarten, part of a continuum of mental and emotional health e-learning courses for K-8 students. In this teacher or counselor-facilitated program projected on a SMART board or other interactive projection system, kindergarten students will learn how to recognize and identify basic feelings and emotions, how to manage their "big" feelings, and how to show respect, care, and concern for themselves and others. As they move through the program collaboratively as a class, kindergarten students will view short online lessons, engage in offline activities, learn a fun, upbeat song, and play two educational games that give them the opportunity to review what they have learned.
The course aligns with National Health Education Standards and Wisconsin State Health Education Standards and is an innovative way to include the vital topic of mental and emotional health in your curriculum plan. As in all of our courses, pre- and post-tests allow you to see their knowledge and comprehension both prior to, and after completion of the course. Read the course objectives and more about using Healthy Minds with your kindergarten students on the Healthy Minds Kindergarten page.
