At Children’s, we are committed to help keep kids healthy and safe. That’s why we are excited to announce two new e-learning courses to implement with your students during the 2019-2020 school year! Healthy Minds 3rd Grade is the first in what will be a continuum of mental and emotional health e-learning courses for K-8 students. Return to Learn is a specialized professional development e-learning course, developed in partnership with Children’s Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic team, designed for educators to help get students safely back into the classroom and academics after they have sustained a concussion, without making symptoms worse.
Healthy Minds 3rd Grade, a self-directed e-learning course, provides an engaging look at what makes a healthy mind, and introduces the skills needed to help students lead healthy lives, including setting goals and communicating effectively. Students in this Wisconsin and National Health Education standards-aligned course will learn the importance of recognizing their feelings, connecting with others, being physically active, getting enough sleep, and other healthy habits that can improve their mental and emotional health. With the new school year starting, the number of sports-related injuries and concussions tends to rise. The Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is committed to providing the knowledge and tools that educators need to help students return safely back into the classroom and back to academics after they have sustained a concussion. Return to Learn is intended for educators, counselors, school psychologists, school nurses and administrators primarily in middle and high school settings, though it may be taken by elementary educators as well. Upon successful completion of the course, educators will receive a Return to Learn Champion designation, along with resources to support the implementation of Return to Learn in their school setting.
