Are you looking for ways to bring mindfulness activities into your classroom? It’s been shown that incorporating mindfulness into your classroom on a regular basis can have a number of positive effects. Using mindfulness practices even 5 to 10 minutes per day can help students reduce stress and anxiety, increase concentration and classroom engagement, improve interpersonal relationships, and help to develop important problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Growing Minds, now offers a series of guided mindfulness practice videos for grades K4 through 12 called Take 5ive that are designed to be integrated into your school day to increase personal wellness, reduce reactivity and negativity, and improve overall classroom culture.
The Take 5ive Mindfulness Practices include guided practice videos that you can instantly pull up and use to develop focus and attention skills, cultivate everyday kindness, including compassion and gratitude, and reset and attune the mind-body connection through movement.
The Take 5ive page includes a brief video for an introduction to Mindfulness, tips for incorporating the practices into your classroom day, and links to all of the practices. The guided practices are divided into grades K4-8 and 6-12. The overlap allows you to select the appropriate practices for your particular group of students.
