Healthy Minds 6th Grade, the newest in our series of engaging mental and emotional health e-learning courses for K-8th grade students, is now available for teachers and counselors to use in your classrooms. The Healthy Minds series focuses on mental and emotional health education and raising awareness among students, providing an engaging look at what makes a healthy mind and introducing the skills needed to help students lead healthy lives.
In this sixth grade course, students will learn how and why their feelings change during adolescence, along with healthy ways to express and deal with those feelings. They will also learn about stress and how to deal with common stressors they might experience during adolescence. Relationships are discussed, and students will learn how to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy relationships. They'll learn about the positives and negatives of social media, along with different skills that will help them lead healthy lives, including analyzing influences and communicating effectively.
All course content and activities present accurate, up-to-date information using a variety of instructional materials to engage your students, including dynamic videos featuring students their own age, and two fun games to reinforce what they've learned. Many concepts are expanded with classroom and/or take-home activities, and a comprehensive teacher's guide is included to help prepare you to administer the course successfully.
The program aligns with National Health Education Standards and Wisconsin State Health Education Standards and is an innovative way to include the vital topic of mental and emotional health in your lesson plans. You will be able to track students' progress, and pre- and post-tests allow you to see their knowledge and comprehension as they move through the course.
