Apply now for Mission: Healthy Kids Healthy Schools Grants!
October 21, 2019
Mission: Healthy Kids, a partnership of Children’s Wisconsin and Kohl’s Cares, is offering Wisconsin schools the opportunity to apply for one of 25 Healthy Schools grants for the 2019-2020 school year. These $2,000 grants focus on helping schools make policy, system and environmental change in the areas of nutrition, physical activity and mindfulness.
The application process for the Healthy Schools grant aligns with the requirements for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's Wisconsin School Health/WSCC award and mirrors the process to apply. There is a limit of one application per school. The grant application period is open now through December 13, 2019, and schools will receive notification in early 2020.
Because the Healthy Schools grants align with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's Wisconsin School Health/WSCC award, each school is required to complete a number of steps prior to completing the application to assess current school environment. These steps include creating or convening a wellness, coordinated school health or WSCC team to review district and/or school wellness policies, completing the Action for Healthy Kids School Health Index, completing the DPI Supplemental WSCC questions, and examining your results.
For more information, and detailed step-by-step instructions to follow, visit the Mission: Healthy Kids Healthy Schools Grant page. You’ll also find a host of school resources on nutrition, physical activity and mindfulness to help you as you assess your school’s environment. Good luck…and keep in mind that applications must be received no later than December 13, 2019 to be considered.
