Safety & Injury Prevention

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has a variety of safety and injury prevention programming that supports our mission, because we know that kids need healthy families and strong communities to live well. Feel free to share these resources with other members of your school community, including other staff, administration, parents, and families.

Kohl's Cares Grow Safe & Healthy

Kohl's Safe and HealthyChildren's Hospital of Wisconsin and Kohl's have a longstanding community partnership and share the mission of keeping kids in our community safe, healthy, and injury free.

Kohl's Cares Grow Safe & Healthy program focuses on injury prevention while at home, on the go, and at play through an interactive gaming app and website. They can also be found at a variety of community events throughout the year with our mobile tour.

Crossroads Teen Driving

Crossroads Teen Driving LogoCrossroads Teen Driving is a Children's Hospital of Wisconsin program with the goal of improving the health of Wisconsin teens by preventing traffic-related loss. We work to educate teens, ages 13-18, on how their own beliefs, their relationships with family and friends, the communities in which they live, and external social factors and policies influence their driving. We focus on issues most relevant to young drivers, including distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, peer passengers, seat belt use, and the licensing process. We accomplish this work through partnerships with, and funding by, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation - Bureau of Transportation Safety, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and State Farm. You can also find Crossroads Teen Driving on Facebook and Twitter

Car Seat Clinic

Road injuries are the leading cause of unintentional deaths to children in the United States. Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71%. When installed and used correctly, child safety seats and seat belts prevent injuries and save lives. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin's car seat clinic has certified child passenger safety technicians on staff who provide education and installation support for families on car seats and booster seats. This is a free service provided to the public and can be scheduled by calling Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Central Scheduling Department at 414-607-5280.

If a family does not have a car seat for their child, they can make an appointment at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s car seat clinic for a low cost car seat. This can be scheduled by calling Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Central Scheduling Department at 414-607-5280.

For a listing of all the agencies in the Southeast Wisconsin region providing car seat installation services, see this Permanent Fitting Station Listing.
